Displayed are a few Augmented Reality projection mapping projects I have created. My Youtube channel has additional projects I've done around Pacific Grove, California.
This lightcasting celebrates the Monach Butterflies using videos by Bob Pacelli. Lightcast was projected onto the Pacific Grove Library's west wall using an Optoma 3000 lumen projector and a Lightform LFC scanning device. 2022
Experimenting with AR Lightcasting at Chautauqua Hall using an Optoma 3000 lumen projector, Aug 2, 2022
The evening of this lightcasting, it was drizzling heavily in Pacific Grove, California, making the video appear very grainy as I recorded the scene with my older iPhone. I used an Optoma 5000 lumen projector and a Lightform LFC scanning device. Nov. 2022
Experimenting with AR Lightcasting at Chautauqua Hall using an Optima 3000 lumen and an Optima 4000 lumen projector, and blended the two lightcasts together using Lightform's software and mapping technology. Oct. 2022
This Lightcasting was created using the art work of Jeff Sax. Jeff had an opening of his art work at Juice n Java in Pacific Grove, CA. Note that the fish changes color in response to the music being played at the opening. I used a 5000 lumen Optoma projector. It was a fun evening. Dec. 17, 2022
This Lightcasting includes a snippet of Georgian dancers, who can leap so high! I used two Optima projectors, a 3000 lumen and a 4500 lumen. There was a lot of ambient light, and I was surprised how bright the casting was in person. It was another evening with heavy drizzle.
This three-projectors Lightcasting was created as part of the annual Parade of Lights in Pacific Grove. Unfortunately, the parade was rained-out. But, by the next evening, the weather was clear so we Lightcast against the east wall of the Bank of America building. Look carefully near the end of the video. You will see white outlines of people walking and cars driving on Lightouse Ave. This outline effect is created by a webcam, live-streaming the activity on the street. I used shaders to accomplish this outline effect. People walking by Juice and Java loved interacting with the projection mapping and the live-streaming webcam video. Dec 2022
This Lightcasting was created using HeavyM software and an Optoma 5000 lumen projector. The purpose of this lightcasting was to entertain and spark a moment of fun. July 2023
These Balinese puppets are telling an Inuit story about the sea mother who calls on a shaman and his spirit animal friends to comb her hair of all the trash and filth so that the sea could provide for the Inuits again. The Balinese puppet makers made new puppets based on the Inuit story and mixed the Inuit puppets with traditional Balinese Hindu puppets to retell the Inuit story of the sea mother. This story and the Balinese puppets are the bases of a Netflix film that is currently under production. Local artists Bob Pacelli, Clemencia Macias, and Jeff Sax are the videographers for this Netflix project. They kindly provided images and video from this lightcasting. This Lightcasting was created using HeavyM software and an Optoma 5000 lumen projector. July 2023
These Balinese puppets are lamenting the rising sea levels that are adversely affecting the Balinese people; they are committed to saving their islands. Local Pagrovian artists Clemencia Macias and Jeff Sax are the puppeteers, along with Johanna from Germany. Clemencia narrated the story and operated the Sea Goddess puppet. Jeff Sax operated the Batabatoon puppet, and Johanna operated the bird puppet. They are wearing greenscreen suits filmed against a greenscreen. This Lightcasting was created using HeavyM software and an Optoma 5000 lumen projector. July 2023
The Big Sur Fashion show asked for a "tunnel of lightcasting" for attendees to walk through as they enter the grounds of the Arthur Miller Library; the theme this year was "a deep dive". You will see this theme expressed in the lightcasting. Jules of Big Sur constructed the frame tunnel. The lighcasting was projected onto six sheets sewn together and tied onto the frame of the tunnel. Two BenQ 3200 lumen projectors were used to cast images onto the tunnel. Sept. 2023
Local quilters allowed me to use their quilts in a projection mapping onto Chautauqua Hall during Good Old Days.A 7000 lumen mid throw projector was used. It was a pleasure to show the augmented beauty to the quilts.
